February 15 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Materials play an essential role in modern technologies. However, the search for new materials with improved properties often involves years of efforts in materials selection and testing. Materials researchers have long dreamed to be able to design new materials entirely on paper, thus avoiding the time-consuming and costly lab work. New developments in computationally driven materials by design are turning this dream into reality, and computational screening have been routinely used in the search for new materials. In this talk, some exciting opportunities in materials by design will be introduced. The key challenges will also be discussed using examples in novel cathode materials for lithium ion batteries.
