A migrant musician, D.B. and his guitar, Meal-Ticket, have worked as a lounge singer on a cruise ship, a singing ranch hand near Austin, TX, and as a hobo musician for the Grand Canyon Railway, all the while writing and refining his original songs and performances. Dr. Lodge will discuss UW-Eau Claire's Responsible Mining Initiative (RMI), which has the goal of preparing highly qualified graduates for work in the mining industry, the environmental consulting industry, and in regulatory agencies such as the DNR. The “Responsibility” aspect of the RMI is largely built on the foundation of hydrogeology. In addition, students are conducting student-faculty research on many applied research topics in geology, hydrogeology, and environmental science.

North of Dixie is a 5 piece band that plays an eclectic mix of original songs, bluegrass, old time jazz/swing and anything else that “feels good”! Shelly Miller lays down the banjo and acoustic guitar sounds. John Lynch adds the rhythm guitar. John and Shelly write or co-write most of the original songs. John Utphall drives many of the songs with his virtuoso fiddle sounds. Bob Boone plays the mandolin and Jeff Heath keeps it all together on bass.

7Swing is a dance band as well as the perfect band to sit back and relax with. Featuring Cathy Reitz on vocals, a rhythm section and 3 horns make up the group. Members of 7Swing are successful, active, established musicians from the Eau Claire area and together create a solid sound perfect for any event. We play Big Band and Swing favorites of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s, along with classics from the decades before and after.
